Mulner Photography opened its Calgary studio on December 1 2004 in a 1500 square foot space in the city’s Foothills Industrial Park, the culmination of years of professional work by owner Kelly Mulner. The photographer spent 15 years studying under a variety of commercial photographic illustrators as well as working in a variety of countries. His passport reads like a well-documented traveler’s with stamps from Finland, Russia, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. It was during a three month stint working in Milan, Italy, and Switzerland that Kelly started making plans for a permanent studio in Calgary. He wanted to take his experience in Fashion photography in Europe and commercial production in Vancouver and combine them with his early pure-art photography. The result is a combination of technical excellence in film and digital photography with an incredible ease of working with people ... and a look that is not normally associated with run of the mill commercial photography.
